The Horizon®58 offers integrated products for the separation of nucleic acids in agarose gel electrophoresis. The system consists of two primary components that are supplemented by a complete selection of accessories and replacement parts. The two primary components are the electrophoresis apparatus and the external gel casting system which allows to cast gels while the elctrophoresis unit is being used or to cast multiple gels in advance.

Horizon®58 is designed to electrophorese submerged agarose mini-gels (5.7 x 8.3 cm) for the rapid separation of nucleic acids. Casting components that withstand boiling agarose temperatures and the removable buffer tray for easy cleaning make the Horizon® 58 the system of choice for rapid routine use. The Horizon® 58 Gel Casting System is a stand-alone system for casting 5.7 x 8.3 cm agarose gels while the Horizon® 58 Apparatus is in use.

Patented drop-in casting dams allow gel to be cast in place without the use of tape. The removable gel deck with red visualisation strips aids in sample loading. For storage combs and gel casting dams can be placed easy in the electrophoresis unit. The safety interlock lid prevents an electrical connection from being made until the lid is properly in place.
