Intended Use
RAPID'Listeria spp. is a chromogenic medium for
detection of Listeria spp. in the analysis of environmental
samples and food products for human consumption. |

RAPID’Listeria spp. has been
specifically developed to detect of all Listeria species
in environmental samples and food 24 hr only after 24 hr
of enrichment. |
| The chromogenic reaction is based on the
specific beta-glucosidase activity of Listeria. The selectivity
of the medium inhibits most of the interfering flora and
the medium provides rapid growth, allowing identification
of Listeria spp. in 24 hr. |
| Reading and differentiation are easy thanks
to the contrast between blue-green Listeria colonies and
whitish agar. |

The RAPID'Listeria spp. detection method
requires a single 24 hr enrichment step in Fraser ½ broth.
Then 0.1 ml of the broth is removed, spread and isolated
on RAPID'Listeria spp. agar, before being incubated for
24 hr. |
